Water the Rose
Just a mere thought brings back the hunger:
From yesteryears.
Thoughts of sand racing between our toes,
As we share this decade upon one way of life.
The memories make me hunger to caress you,
Just stare into the mirror again for the first time.
Can you tell me what is missing?
For in my heart, it’s full but empty.
I am full of memories of sharing lemonade
underneath shade trees in the spring.
Lost deep in each others eyes wondering what summer would bring.
I am empty for you are a distance away,
Just wishing I could walk back into your arms.
Even though I doubt I can swim to Puerto Rico.
Although I tried many times in my dreams,
For it was not in vain;
For I drowned in your love.
Waking up to a soggy pillow,
Or did I cry myself to sleep.
I am missing the sensation of you holding me.
There is nothing in the world that can take the place of this feeling.
Not even winning Georgia’s Lottery for millions,
For without you I have no one to share it with;
There for it would just be toilet paper wiping my tears.
I can figure a million ways I would spend the winnings if I ever won.
Although without you I can’t find one.
There is nothing worth more to spend the winnings on than you.
For I could have a million dollars but without you,
I still have nothing at all.
As the waterfalls water the rose,
The tears lace my pillow.
Please don’t let the water run dry,
Would you again for the first time allow me to
Water the Rose.
